USPA NEWS - Fernando Alonso signs a multi-year agreement with Aston Martin: "I'm here to stay"

With this agreement, speculations about Fernando Alonso's move to other teams have come to an end, strengthening the bond between the Spanish driver and the British team.
After months of intense speculation about his future in Formula 1 and rumors linking him to Mercedes or Red Bull, the most experienced driver in the history of Formula One, Fernando Alonso, has reaffirmed his commitment to Aston Martin Aramco by signing a new multi-year contract.

Alonso, who joined Aston Martin from Alpine in 2023, has showcased his speed and skill on numerous occasions since his arrival. With six podium finishes in the first eight races of last season, the Spanish driver has maintained a solid performance in the current season, holding the fifth position behind Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes with consistent top-ten results.
Having achieved eight podiums the previous year, a record-breaking feat for Aston Martin, Alonso remains one of the fastest drivers in the sport and a force to be reckoned with on the track.

Following the unexpected announcement of Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari for 2025, speculations arose regarding Alonso's future, particularly on whether he would continue in F1 and, if so, whether he would stay with Aston Martin.

All conjectures came to an end with the signing of this new contract that will see the Spanish driver compete until 2026, coinciding with the arrival of Formula 1 in his home country, Spain, with an urban circuit near Madrid. Alonso commits to a third season and beyond in the premier category of motorsport.
Mike Krack, Team Principal of Aston Martin Aramco, stated: "Securing Fernando's long-term future with Aston Martin Aramco is fantastic news. We have built a strong working relationship over the past 18 months and share the same determination for this project to succeed. Fernando has shown that he believes in us, and we believe in him."

"Fernando is hungry for success, driving better than ever, in top form, and fully dedicated to making Aston Martin Aramco a competitive force. This multi-year agreement with Fernando takes us to 2026 when we begin our power unit partnership with Honda. We look forward to creating more incredible memories and achieving further successes together."
Fernando Alonso, driver for Aston Martin Aramco, said: "There has been much said and written about my future in Formula One in recent months, but today I am delighted to announce that I am here to stay with Aston Martin Aramco in a multi-year agreement."

"I stated earlier this year that I would first decide if I wanted to continue racing and then sit down with the team. From the moment I joined the team in 2023, I felt at home. In just over 15 months, we have already achieved a lot together, with some podiums and memorable battles."
"I am very grateful for the trust Lawrence, Martin, and Mike have placed in me, and with Lance, I am excited to see what more we can achieve together. This is just the beginning of this project, and I am proud to be part of it. I am in my best physical shape and still hungry. I will give my all as we continue our journey to become a championship-winning team."
